I have committed! I am signed up for the UBC Sprint Triathlon, March 8, 2009: 700 m swim/20 km bike/5 km run. I hope it does not snow that day!
I am looking forward to racing a triathlon again.
My last race was the Kelowna Apple in August 2007!
The 2009 race season will look like this for me...
February 22nd Whistler Loppet (15 km Skate Ski) GOAL: stoke the race spirit, HAVE FUN
March 8th UBC Sprint Tri March GOAL: get back in the swing of 'triing' MORE FUN!
April No Races, race prep month, training longer runs and bikes GOAL: more training volume
May 3rd Vancouver 1/2 marathon GOAL: pacing, negative split, prep for 1/2 iron
May 18th North Shore Spring Triathlon (Sprint) GOAL: 1:08, strong transitions
May 24th Whistler Valley Trail Run (10 KM)GOAL: 43 min
June 8th Oliver 1/2 Iron GOAL: finish in top of age group, more specific time goal to come after a few months of training and after reviewing the two previous tris this season
July 5th Squamish Tri (Olympic)GOAL: win age group
August 16th Kelowna Apple: Canadian Championships (Olympic) GOAL: qualify for Worlds
Are you wondering how it will be done? Me too :)
I am being ambitious with these goals and even with this schedule.
I know I do better when I am busy so I am scheduling it that way.
I am aware that Liv, my 9 week old baby, will tell me how it is going.
I am planning to listen to her. She is my priority.
That being said I am a happier and more effective mother when my day includes some training and focus outside of just her.
So there is a balance to be achieved. I am planning on training for my race season, racing and being competitive, coaching two athletes for their race season, volunteering as race director, volunteering at the food bank, and being a good mom! I am sure it is possible. So far so good!
I have a wonerful husband, great friends and a luckily some family support right here in Whistler, not to mention my family that plans visits here!
My training right now is going well. I am sleeping well and sufficiently, Thanks Liv!

I am still nursing my 9 week old baby so my workouts kinda revolve a bit around
And so that is the update from my end! I am a happy mom 'triing' to do it all! Nothing new except the mom part really.
