Pregnant Pause from Racing

You guessed it I am pregnant! I am 17 weeks along, which makes me due Nov 20th.
So there will be a pause this season from racing.
I had an uncomfortable first trimester; nausea and fatigue. I hear it could have been worst, but that was not much comfort.

Other then that I have stayed involved in the triathlon world volunteering & coaching.

I am proud to be coaching a first time Ironaman athlete. She just completed her first triathlon at the Oliver half last weekend and did great, Sub 6 hrs. I am also coaching some very dedicated female runners and a youth triathlete. It is such a great experience coaching these athletes! I am lucky to be included in their journey.

I have volunteered at the UBC triathlon in March and at the North Shore Spring Traithlon in May as a Tri BC race official. I am planning to volunteer at the Vancover ITU World Championships this weekend.

The Whistler Triathlon Club has successfully hosted it's 4th Annual Kids of Steel Tri and it's Second Annual Try-A-Tri on May 24th. I again was the race director for this event. It was a blast! Our volunteers were fantastic! We were totally prepared and were blessed with awesome weather too! Check out photos of the event at http://www.davidmccolm.com/ and at our site http://www.whistlertriclub.ca/

We received accolades for the race from many of the racers and parents of the racers. The accolades came in the form of a complimetary letter to the editor & "Roses" and a poem published in the local papers.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler is also looking into to promoting our event along with the Whistler Valley Trail Run (same weekend) with Tourism Whistler as a Sport Tourism Initiative Family Weekend! So the 2009 will be bigger and better!

I participated in the Whistler Valley Trail Run (10km) on May 25th. It was good fun. I ran with Bob, my husband, and our dog Thorne. You can see a small belly in the shot above. Notice I am proudly sporting the North Shore Athletics gear, New Balance shoes and TYR socks. Bob is wearing a TYR visor.

So although I am taking a pause from training and racing I will still be active in the local triathlon community not to mention in my role as fitness professional and coach.

Ciao for now!
