Update March 2, 2008

The race training season is in high gear! I am training 10-12 hrs a week. My week of training is comprised of 3 swims, 4-5 runs of varying lengths and purposes, 1 brick which is a bike +run workout, 3-4 spins/wind trainer sessions, 1-2 strength sessions + 1 movement class that is either Yoga or a Feldenkrais session for relaxation.

I have signed up for 2 road bike races to get me kick started into racing. The Escape Velocity Spring Series http://www.escapevelocity.bc.ca/springseries.html happens each weekend in March. I will race the March 22, 2008 60 km road bike race in Abbotsford, BC, the March 29, 2008 70 km road bike in Langley, BC and the March 30th 12 km Time Trial. I raced two of these last year and it was humbling! I have no experience road racing and I fell off thepack pretty quick. It was great reminder of what it is like to race and the amount of preparation needed to take on something new. I am hoping to use these races simply to gain some experience and get me out on the road and off the wind trainer! "A kick in the pants results in a step forward!"

As those who know me know I ike to keep busy: I am assisting collect donations for the Tri BC Silent Auction that is March 13th in benefit of the Marc Duncan and Mary Leviland funds. http://www.tribc.org/ I am volunteering at the Whistler Food Bank 2 x a month. I am working 30-38 hrs/wk at Meadow Park Sports Centre as a fitness administrator, fitness instructor and personal trainer. I like to sum that up as Fitness Professional. I have a client who is training for her first Ironman! I am thrilled to be a part of her journey!

Preparations for the Whistler Triathlon are going well. We have brochures, our website is up to date and on-line registration will be ready soon. The adult and kids race is May 24, 2008 in Whistler. I am the race director. It is a great organizational feat. The Whistler Tri Club is a great team putting this event on. http://www.whistlertriclub.ca/ We have a core group that is the race committee that meets monthly to get the details together.

I am thrilled to have RDC Fine Homes, TYR, North Shore Athletics, New Balance and Snow Covers back onboard as my primary sponsors. My coach, Val Burke, has moved to New Zealand but we are managing to communicate via SKYPE, e-mail and her new coaching software program trainingpeaks.com

I will endeavour to update my blog once a month...
Let me know what you think of all this!
Ciao for now,
Marie-Anne :)
